An access log is a thorough list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a given site. Every file which was requested for whatever reason shall be listed, so if you have a single webpage with 3 embedded pictures, one video and one embedded text file, for example, the access log will contain a total of 6 entries - one for every of the six files that were accessed when the site visitor opened the page. A log normally shows the file name and path, the date, along with the visitor’s OS, Internet browser and IP address. Occasionally you may also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your site. The info which an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It could be processed by special software on a personal computer and used to write reports on the efficiency of a site, in addition to the web stats your hosting server may have created.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting

Our custom Hepsia CP has a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. As you sign in to your cloud hosting account and go to this section, you'll find a list of all the domain names and subdomains which you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to click on a button which will be available next to each domain/subdomain. When the option is enabled, you will see a download link along with the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your personal computer and examine it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective right away, so if you no longer require one, you could stop it with only a mouse click from the exact same section of the CP. You will still be able to access the already created content by simply clicking the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our sophisticated hosting platform will create access logs for each site hosted in a semi-dedicated server account, provided that this feature is enabled. All domain names and subdomains that you have will be listed inside the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, that we offer with all the accounts, so if you want our system to start producing logs for any of them, you should simply click on the little button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and switch the default Off option to On. You can stop this function anytime by following the exact same steps. You'll find a Download link for each and every log within the same section of the Control Panel, so you may save the content produced by our system in .txt format with simply a mouse click. An existing log file could be downloaded even after the function has been disabled, so you will still be able to check out the data which has already been generated.
